What is the personality of this deck?

Queen of Cups
(Verica of the Franks)
The Queen of Cups sits on a throne made of the scallop shell that is the symbol of Venus. She has made an alliance to the bloodline called The Light of the World. Linked to the inner world of the spirit, she has the gift of vision.

Warm-hearted and beloved; devoted wife; highly intuitive, ethereal, and mysterious. Has the gift of vision because of ties to otherworldly things.

Reverse Meaning: Dishonest; one whose loyalty and opinions change without warning; immoral.

In other words, listen, we're telling you the truth!

Not only truthful, but in a loving way! Sounds perfect.

What will this deck teach me?

King of Cups
(Merovee)
A Sea King sits on a watery throne. Water surrounds him and is symbolic of his royal line. He is descended from the House of Judah through the rape of his mother by a 'sea monster'. His descendants will travel far across the seas.

Skilled in the ways of the world; a negotiator and manipulator; religious; patron of arts and sciences; one who reaches power through his intelligence instead of physical strength.

Reverse Meaning: Treacherous, dishonest, selfish, crafty; a double-dealer.

Sounds formidable yet not nice. But, I sooooo lack these mundane skills that, just maybe, this is what I need.

What will our relationship be like?

Queen of Pentacles
(Descendant of Bloodline)
The Queen of Pentacles wears a high crown symbolizing the most royal blood. She is in a stout fortress that is well defended. She is the future Queen of the Bloodline and of the world. She holds the crystal as proof of her lineage.

Down-to-earth; sensible; magnanimous with money and affection; charitable; appreciates the good things in life. Not overly intelligent, but earthy and wise.

Reverse Meaning: A spendthrift; grasping; suspicious, narrow-minded; life guided by material possessions; surrounds herself with those who are not critical of her choices.

Good relationship, in a very practical way.

Card of Interest #1

Strength
(Bernard of Clairvaux)
The Holy Man sits in the tower of his mind surrounded by his souls dark aspects. At first he is unable to accept them, but he knows this must be done or he will never see the truth. Temptation to do evil may appear to be an outside force but in reality it comes from within him and though he may initially shy away from these inner demons, still he faces them with courage. His buried fears and crimes are also visible as are valid teachings he rejected without consideration. When he has defeated his own evil he will look upon the world with wiser eyes.

Moral conviction, strength; courage, defiance; setting a wrong right; resolving a problem; action, reconciliation.

Reverse Meaning: Weakness, lack of faith; giving up before the battle is won; abuse of power; failure of nerve, pettiness.

This card just kind of popped out as I was shuffling.

This is a much better description of the Strength card than the lion is. Although, maybe the combination of the two is an even better description. One is the details of what is involved. The other is a picture of the result.

Card of Interest #2

Ace of Cups
An angel seated at a table prays over a cup. Also on the table rests the Horn of Plenty, which is frequently associated with the Holy Grail. A Host marked with the Templar cross is near the cup.

Fertility as it applies to the feminine power of birth; motherhood, creation; goodness; abundance.

Reverse Meaning: House of false heart; instability; bareness; failure of love; stagnation, sterility.

This card intrigued me because it looks so sad compared to what I'm used to seeing as the Ace of Cups in other decks.

This card seems more quietly spiritual rather than the usual almost joyous interpretation.

My Card to Research this Month

Five of Cups
A winged figure leans on a rock and weeps. In the distance there is a castle or fortress with a bridge crossing a rocky pass.

Emotional instability; worry; sense of loss, but not total despair. Can be a marriage or relationship that is without love. Life must be reassessed and explored and changes made.

Reverse Meaning: Unexpected worries and anxieties; friend or lover from the past reenters life of Querent but brings only pain and disappointment.

This sounds like my life!

Card for Everyone in Group to Research this Month

Ace of Swords
A seated woman holds a sword aloft in triumph while an eagle flies towards her. Her other hand rests on a skull and bones. Behind her the sky is rosy with dawn.

Triumph of divine justice; strength found in adversity; breaking down an old order for the new. Championship and conquest. Great force in love.

Reverse Meaning: All the power of the divinatory meaning but instead of triumph there is disaster. Destruction, negative energy, misused power.

I know this wasn't meant just for me. But, I choose to interpret it that way.

So, maybe there really IS light at the end of the tunnel.
